Hello … Ben and Heather!

So excited for these parents-to-be! Even more excited for their little girl, who will make her appearance sometime around early September. ‘Baby G’, seems to have already inherited her parents love of college football, given that her due date falls right at the start of the season, so we had to include some school spirit in the photos. Ben and Heather have always had a passion for their respective alma maters (they’re rehearsal dinner cake was a specially made 1/2 Clemson, 1/2 Michigan cake), but I already know that their love and excitement for their little girl surpasses even that. Ben and Heather, I was honored to capture some of your pre-baby moments and know that you’re both going to be amazing parents to Baby G!

By the way - how amazing does Heather look?

Hello … Lulu!

Oh Little Lulu. When my friend Dara and her family lost their beloved friend Brewster last year, it left a big gap in their beautiful family. He had been with Dara and her husband Sean since they were married and had welcomed three playmates into their home during that time. Brewster had been there for a lot of big moments and saying good bye was only one part of the equation. There was a hole and it needed to be filled. Not by another ‘Brew’ - who could never be replaced - but by another four legged friend who would bring a new energy into their family. Enter Lulu. A rescue puppy from the South, she came with no background info, but plenty of licks, leaps, and . .oh yes, legs. They are L-O-N-G. But what else can you expect from a greyhound/lab mix? It’s Lulu’s first official summer with her new family and already she knows she has the good life.

Hello … Abby & Phoebe!

LOVE these two. I have known them since they were babies. From the time I got my first digital point and shoot (a Fuji Fine pix!), I’ve been been fortunate to be a part of and capture some of their candid (read: funnier) moments and see their personalities grow along with those photos. They’re both similar in many ways, but different in more obvious ones. Abby is thoughtful and quiet, plays in her own band, loves the drums, is learning guitar and the two of us spent a warm summer evening last week driving around whilst rocking out to the Sirius alternative station (can you still ‘rock out’ at 36?). Phoebe is a constant whirlwind of effortless energy (they need to bottle 8 year old energy and market it - stat!), passionate about singing and dancing, so much so I made her pinky swear the other day that she’ll have free tickets for us for her future debut Broadway performance.

But despite their differences an the occasional disagreement they’re best friends. And two girls I can absolutely be silly with anywhere, anytime.

By the way, did I really just out myself as a James Bond fan in my last post? I need to edit more carefully!

Hello . . . . Amy & Matt

What is it with me and international romances? Well, apart from the fact that I am the result of one, and in one, of course! Oh, and I am a closet James Bond fan. It seems like I am always meeting people who are one half of a UN powerhouse and each relationship is so unique. I love it! Amy and Matt are no exception. I had an opportunity to do some impromptu shots with them on the Greenway on a rather warm Saturday evening and wished we’d had longer. They met in Rio de Janeiro, where Amy was doing holidaying, after some external study abroad for med school in Argentina, and Matt, hailing from England, was working on a yacht (yes, his job is exceptionally cool). Many months later, they are making it happen in New York City, but were in Boston to visit family and see a bit more of the city. Cue international romance. Sigh.

This session is brought to you by Canada Day - an appropriately timed event for this post, given Dani’s nationality. There is something about my family. For some reason we always seem to end up with foreigners! I was really excited about taking these photos, as it gave me a chance to work on bonding with my new-to-me Canon 5Dmkii. Thanks Dani and Al for your patience and for making me (and each other) laugh!

Hello . . . Dani & Al!

My little (or not so little) brother, Al, and his girlfriend Dani spent a week  with us and were very willing, patient, and cooperative models for me! And that’s no mean feat either. Love these two so much! You saw them several blog posts ago in their element - out in the Australian countryside, with their sidekick Salty - and those photos had me really excited to trap …  er, ask them to volunteer for some more shots when they arrived. More to come from our post-summer storm session …

Hello . .. . Dad

So, it’s Father’s Day in the US today, but doesn’t mean those of us with foreign fathers can’t acknowledge and celebrate these men who continue to help us, inspire us, and remind us of what matters. Thank you Dad!

Above shot of my amazing father, taken at Tamworth Railway station in Tamworth, NSW.

Hello … . Rachel and Megan

These girls floor me. Not only are they amazingly gorgeous, but they are incredibly talented dancers, who have both performed with the prestigious  Alvin Ailey Dance Company. Rachel and Megan refer to each other as ‘twins’ and graduated from Fordham University together. With Rachel recently transplanting herself from a dance stint in Dallas to NYC, they’re now able to catch up regularly and I was able to snap them after joining them at a tapas get together in NYC last week. This was an impromptu sidewalk session and I was excited to be able to give them this image. Thanks for musing for me, ladies - excited to see where your careers are going to go next!

Summer is almost here - I can see it in these photos!

Also the occasional swing works wonders for the spirit!

In our household, P and L stands for profit and loss. It has some sort of long-winded meaning in the finance world that my husband inhabits five (sometimes six) days a week. Right now I am making that motion where you bring your hand over your head to indicate that the topic is well over your knowledge base. I much prefer this P and L - Penelope and Lola. They were shining stars during our two hour shoot, and they don’t even know it yet! They might be slightly on the cute side.
